EG4 6000XP Quick Start Guide

When setting up the EG4 6000XP inverter for the first time there are several steps that need to be taken.

1. Battery Connection

Batteries can be set to Lead-acid or Lithium (setting #3)

  • Choosing “Lead-acid” setting the battery capacity (Ah) will need to be entered.
  • Choosing the “Li-on” the “brand” of the battery will need to be entered for BMS communication.
  • It’s important to remember If attempting to BMS communicate with EG4 LifePower4 batteries, a firmware update will need to be performed on the batteries. (This will require a PC to Battery Communication cable).
  • If attempting to BMS communicate with EG4 LL series batteries, they will need to be set to EG4/LUX protocol on the batteries. (see section 7.2.1 in battery manual)
  • There is a battery compatibility chart from EG4 Click Here
*If a certain brand battery is not on the compatible list use the “Lead-acid” battery settings.

2. Registering the account and Wi-Fi Dongle
  • Register an Account first:
  • When registering the account, provide the following information:
    • Customer code: Use customer code santan1
    • Dongle SN: The serial number is attached to the Wi-Fi/LAN shell.
    • Dongle PIN: PIN is attached to the Wi-Fi/LAN shell below the serial number.

3. Setting up Dongle

The charge controller manages the flow of electricity from the PV array to the battery bank. It ensures that the batteries are charged properly and prevents overcharging or excessive discharge, which could damage the batteries.

  • To add the dongle plug it into Wi-Fi port on the inverter.
  • Turn the inverter on. LED will flash.
  • Connect the phone to the dongle hotspot. The hotspot name is the same as the dongle serial number.
  • Click on "Dongle Connect".
  • Click the Yellow refresh button to display a list of available networks. Connect to your home network.
  • The Wi-Fi dongle will reset.

  • Enter in your home network password. Once connection is established, the three led lights will be solid ON, which means the inverter is connected to the server.
  • You can now login into the monitoring software and and begin monitoring to your system

4. Additional important settings to note
  • Make sure setting #20 (Power Save Functions) is completely disabled. This should be the default setting. However, if enabled it will prevent AC power to the LOAD output, even if the LOAD breaker is on.
  • Make sure setting #20 (Power Save Functions) is completely disabled. This should be the default setting. However, if enabled it will prevent AC power to the LOAD output, even if the LOAD breaker is on.
  • Always check AC and DC voltages prior to powering on the inverter. Upon confirming all voltages are within the inverter’s operating range, close (ON) the battery breaker on the front of the unit. Close the external battery breaker between bank and inverter (if equipped).
  • For parallel connection settings refer to page #17 in the inverter manual.
